ABOUT
The challenges of today require problem-solvers to bring different perspectives and people willing to take risks. Performing-heARTS emerged as a way to give children and young adults with special needs an outlet to brighten their isolated days. Founder, Jordyn Brandman, current 12th grader at Roslyn High School, has firsthand experience working with children with special needs. Combining her desire to help others with her passion for musical theater were the driving forces behind the Performing-heARTS creation. There are two goals here: to give students the opportunity to take on leadership roles and to artistically impact individuals of all ages with special needs through the teaching of musical theater. From singing, dancing, to acting, students will have the chance to assist special needs individuals and help them understand why musical theater brings joy to so many lives. Leadership roles will be taken on not only to plan and lead programs, but to arrange fundraisers in which 100% of proceeds will go to other non-profits.
